Visit to the Parliament in Curaçao

Discrimination and marginalization are significant human rights issues affecting many countries in Europe. The EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) reported that racism, xenophobia and related issues are on the rise in EU Member States, leading to insecurity among many young people. In addition, research by ECRI highlighted that racism and xenophobia are widespread in the EU, with verbal and physical attacks, social exclusion and intolerant discourse becoming more common. Given this negative climate, the “Empowering Youth Against Discrimination – EYAD” project aims to raise awareness among young people in Europe. We visited the Curaçao Parliament with the aim of empowering young people to develop ideas and policies on discrimination, promote cross-border cooperation and adapt policies to the cultural conditions of their own region
